has a doctorate in English Education and a master's degree in Mental
Health Counseling. She is certified by the State of Ohio as a
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). After twenty-five
years as a college level English professor, she began a second career
as a psychotherapist. She now works out of her private office in
Reynoldsburg, Ohio, counseling individuals, couples, families, and groups.
After study at
the Jung Institute in Switzerland, she co-founded the Jung
Association of Central Ohio (JACO). She continues teaching Jungian
Concepts courses for this group. Mary Jo counsels from a Jungian
perspective while integrating what is helpful from transpersonal,
NLP, cognitive, and gestalt schools. The Jungian model greatly values
the positive function of the Unconscious. Her bias is toward the
transpersonal and spiritual with a special interest in the mutual
interworkings of body, mind, feelings, and spirit.
Mary Jo also
facilitates therapy groups, support groups, inner work, and dream
groups. Several of her groups have been self-created by friends who
share an interest in psycho-spiritual growth. She continues to offer
her services to others who feel professional facilitation may enhance
their connecting with one another. She has had training in:
Jungian therapy
Cognitive therapy,
Gestalt therapy,
Body/mind therapies,
Transpersonal therapy
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
Besides having studied widely and deeply the religions of the world, she brings to her work facilitating a non-sectarian transpersonal growth the added depth of having been a practicing Tibetan Buddhist for four years and a Catholic nun for fourteen years.
